Angie's paintings are inspired by adventures along the British coast, from Cornwall and Wales to Ireland. Beachcombing, sailing and the changing horizons, tides and elements inform her work. Back in her Cotswold studio, sketches, photographs and collected driftwood and sea glass inspire the coastal colours and weathered textures of her paintings.
Small remote houses have been a recurrent theme in her paintings for years, inspired by trips to the Western Isles of Scotland where the old crofters' cottages, alone in that wild coastal landscape, caught her eye and moved her.
This series of imagined landscapes is a search for space and calm in a noisy, uncertain world. The solitary, humble dwelling is used as a motif to explore the theme of isolation, both intended and enforced.
