Sophie has worked full-time as a painter, illustrator and textile designer since 1993, creating artwork for leading UK and international clients. In recent years she has focused mainly on painting and printmaking, with work exhibited widely across the UK, including at Liberty London, New Craftsman Gallery and The Byre Gallery.
Influenced by artists such as Milton Avery, Mary Fedden and Matisse, Sophie paints from life and the everyday moments of West Cornwall—favourite objects, seasonal flowers, local beaches and gardens. Her work distils these simple scenes into calm, joyful compositions with a strong emphasis on colour and the quiet pleasures of daily life.
She lives in Penzance and works between her home studio and a nearby Chapel Street workspace.
